Melanie Rowson, M.D.

Melanie Rowson, M.D., Clinical Medical Director of Baltimore Cares, Inc. earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her general psychiatry training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Training Program. In addition, Dr. Rowson completed specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through the University of Maryland Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. During this fellowship, Rowson served as the Chief Fellow for Out-Patient Clinical Services. Her responsibilities included assisting in the delivery of comprehensive and evidence based clinical services to patients, supervision of general psychiatry residents, and completing administrative duties for child fellows. Rowson continues to work as appointed faculty with The Department of Child Psychiatry at University of Maryland. Dr. Rowson has additional training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and in substance use disorders with a waiver to prescribe suboxone for opioid dependence. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as The American Psychiatric Association. She is licensed and Board Certified in both General and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.
